KANSAS CITY ZOO (Part Deux)!!!

Well folks, it finally happened. Squishy Renae made it back to Kansas City for a weekend of power-packed fun. If you can believe it, the Squishmeister was so worn out by the end of each day, we had no problem getting her to go to bed. She was passed out, mouth wide open, before we made it home each night. Welcome back, Squishy Renae! 💜

First Stop: Kansas City Zoo
The day was off to a rough start when the Squish decided to jump into the lion's den and bare hand wrestle and alligator. Oh wait, that is some other kind of lizard. Anyways, we were sure glad she was there to rescue us.

She did eventually defeat said lizzard and shared the spoils with her sister.

Or is that a reptile? Is there a difference? I digress.

After strolling along the scenic route, we spotted a grove of Japanese cherry blossoms that were absolutely breathtaking. We had to snap a pic for the 'gram. 🤳🏿

The Japanese cherry blossoms were beautiful.

Next up was face painting. I cannot believe how quickly the artist painted these gems. Squish got the turtle.

And Shamimi got the flower painted on her face. Both matched them very well.

A quick moment of love between the chickens when they weren't trying to choke each other (like normal.) Lord, give us strength! 😅

They fight like cats and dogs, but don't you dare mess with the Shamimi when the Squish is around ... and vice versa. They can beat each other up, but don't you try!

We took a quick break for snacks and Icees halfway through to refuel. The weather was gorgeous and we certainly soaked up every minute of it we could.

Next up was the penguin park and Squish was ALL FOR IT!  With snacks in hand, she was ready to feed herself (and them too!)

**Note: No penguins were harmed during the filming of this expedition.**

Afterwardes, we hopped on the tram to the Africa exhibit which Squish had been looking forward to all day long. Her favorite is the giraffe but sadly they weren't out due to the weather.

The elephants seemed very interested and started growling when a service dog showed up, standing close by Squish. I thought I might have to go into mama bear mode, but thankfully it was just the service dog.

For the record: it was HOT by this point but the girls were still in high, happy spirits!

After the Africa exhibit, we rode the tram back to the front to edit and head to dinner.

Jack Stack 's BBQ was mouth-watering good! 🤤 Squishy looked at me after her first bite and said, "okay TETe, we HAVE to come back here." When I asked her how the food was, she simply replied, "AMAZING!!!" For a 5 year old, that's pretty impressive!

We ended with ice cream at Betty Rae's which sent us into a sugar-infused bliss. Needless to say, the KC trip was a success that we will never forget.

*Note: Sprinkles WERE harmed during the taking of this picture.*

See y'all next time, Kansas City!
